The Potter Creek Crusaders, in existence since 2008, are students who are committed to learning about their environment and dedicated to sharing their knowledge with others.   We meet once a week, after school, to work with our PCC advisors and environmental partners.   Each year, a book of photographs and information is published.   (Our Books)

“Do You Know?” announcements, sponsored by the PCC, are made monthly in Berkeley Township Elementary School.  These informational blurbs highlight current environmental events and activities from local to global.  They are designed to spark interest within the student population.

Our photographs of the Barnegat Bay Watershed are part of a traveling exhibit each year.   Throughout Ocean County, New Jersey our work has been displayed at the Barnegat Bay Festival, the Cattus Island Festival, the Ocean County Environmental Educators Roundtable,   the Ocean County Superintendents Roundtable, the Berkeley Branch of the Ocean County Library, and the Berkeley Branch of Ocean First Bank.

In cooperation with the mayor and council of Berkeley Township, Berkeley Township Elementary School, and our Ameri Corps Watershed Ambassador we developed a nature trail to Potter Creek near our school.  This allows classes to explore the local ecology.  Future plans also involve a Boy Scout Eagle Project.

In 2012, the Potter Creek Crusaders were the first student group to be awarded the honor of being named “Guardians of Barnegat Bay” by the Barnegat Bay Partnership.  A display of our work is featured in their offices.  Our plaque is showcased at BTES. We have also been recognized by the Ocean County Board of Freeholders and Berkeley Township mayor and council.
